The delegation of United States, leading the P5 at the emergency meeting between UNGA and UNSC officials, accuses independent media of manipulating public opinion regarding Chinese, American, Russian and British interests in the burmese region. However, isn’t it so very comfortable for the US to have a position aligned with its historical adversary, China, in an issue where they are supposedly “not treated fairly” by the international investigative press? It is really a pity that four of the most powerful, rich, and financially-expansionist countries are victimized by the mere stating of facts, through media vehicles that seek the disclosure of information, as a democratic motto.

The delegate of USA keeps repeating the lack of necessity of veto power discussion at such a crucial moment with Myanmar. But isn’t it so very fitting that the crisis the USA helped create — and other as much accusable UNSC members as it —, serves as deterrence from discussing the Myanmar humanitarian crisis? For how long will the global community accept such explicit self-interest-lead positions from the North?

And Russia, who showcases itself as an ally of third world countries against the imperial expansion of the West, has also been complicit by supplying the military junta with arms, as it desires Myanmar’s rare-earth resources, as revealed by the Papers. Few delegations have the courage of the Algerian delegation to denounce contemporary colonialist proxy conflicts, such as the one that presently occurs in Myanmar. It is welcomed as well by all the international humanitarian advocates that actually strive for human right security and the well-being of a minority that — in contrast with US victimized rhetoric — truly suffers a calamity, as is the Rohingya, which the powerful decide to ignore.

We must as the Global South, uphold for a more just future, putting up against the global colonially nostalgic powers that threat the integrity of the repressed.
